Here’s a fun piano composition activity for children. Kids make up a little melody using the C, D and E keys and write the names of the keys on the lily pads.
There’s also a place to circle right hand or left hand. I encourage my students to give each hand a turn, and they get to choose which hand to use for the first line and then use the other on the bottom line.
Although the primary focus of this activity is composition, this activity is also great for kids who are learning the names of the keys. You’ll see quicker mastery of the names of the keys as you give children opportunities to create their own music using the keys you’re introducing.
