These bean bags are perfect for parents and music teachers and they are super easy to make.
I love that they look like music notes and you can adjust the “stems” to help them look even more like the specific notes they represent.
Materials needed: men’s black casual socks, dry beans or rice, and rubber bands.
Step 1:
Turn the socks inside out and add 1/3 to 1/2 cup of dry beans.
Secure tightly with a rubber band.
Step 2:
Turn the socks right side out and have fun!
In my piano studio, we use these bean bags all the time. Sometimes the kids just toss them as regular bean bags, and other times we use them to give the kids practice with correctly representing notes.
Using these bean bags is a great way to practice stem rules and the kids think it’s fun to move the “stems” around to get the correct answer.
You can use these music note bean bags with a giant staff game board. Click on the link to learn how to create your own.

I love this idea… so much easier than sewing & stuffing traditional beanbags. I enjoyed browsing the other ideas on your blog too thanks to a post by Sheryl’s at Notable Music Studio.

Thanks for your feedback! I’m so glad that you like the idea. There are tons of activities that you can play with these and I hope they help you as you teach your students.
